Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Garden Grove with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in California may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 am–9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (714) 539-2703. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. With 4.0 out of 5 on Google from 1,126 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for asian grocery stores in Garden Grove. Recent reviews are the best guide.

Garden Grove is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Garden Grove follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

While purchasing two items in the store, I paid $5.00 for a total of $3.76. However, the cashier provided me with $1.20 in change instead of the correct amount of $1.24. When I inquired about the discrepancy, the cashier explained that they do not have pennies unless I provide one cent, after which they can return me with one dollar and a quarter. This policy seems unreasonable, as I do not have a penny and am required to give one to receive the correct change. The issue lies not with the customer’s responsibility but rather with the store’s policy. I would appreciate it if I could identify the appropriate department to report this matter to.

I purchased this can of Spam on Friday (7/10). When I opened it, I immediately noticed that the product had gone bad. The color was much darker than normal. I buy Spam regularly, so I know what it is supposed to look like—it should be a light pink color, not dark. I brought it back to AR Supermarket, not just because I wanted a refund, but because I wanted to let the store know there might be a problem with this batch. They should check the other cans, and if they have the same issue, they should remove them from the shelves to protect customers. Unfortunately, the manager—an older Korean gentleman with glasses whose name I don’t know—had a very poor attitude. He insisted that the dark color was normal. I showed him the Spam and pointed out that the top half was dark while the bottom half was pink. I asked him, “If this is normal, why are there two different colors in the same can?” After seeing that, he had nothing more to say. As a regular AR customer, this is the second time I have experienced spoiled food from this store. That is very disappointing and makes me question the quality control of the products they sell. I won’t be shopping at this market anymore.

I’ve shopped at AR Supermarket in Garden Grove several times before and usually had an okay experience, but today was very disappointing and honestly ruined my day. The cashier (a Korean male employee - receipt 178) was extremely unfriendly and rude during checkout. He insisted multiple times that I hand him my credit card, even though on previous visits I was always allowed to tap my card myself. What made me very uncomfortable was that he was wearing visibly dirty, yellow gloves. Since COVID, I do not feel comfortable handing over personal items like my credit card, and this should be respected. His attitude became even worse when my husband asked for a shopping bag. The cashier claimed we had to request a bag before checkout, which makes no sense. First of all, it is the cashier’s responsibility to ask. Secondly, on our previous visits no one mentioned this rule or charged us for bags this way. It felt like he was just looking for reasons to be difficult.which makes no sense and was never mentioned on previous visits. The attitude was unnecessary and unprofessional. Because of this experience, I will not be coming back here to shop again.

Went to get some supplies for tonight dinner. Still a great and valuable with decent prices place to shop. With friendly cashiers and staff. Their stuffs are fresh & nicely packed. They do have already cooked, fresh, and frozen for meats, seafoods and veggies. Parking is great, there is front and back of the building, and easy to park (small spaces are small). The market is clean and well organized. They also have food stalls section, and other shops at the entrance. Their bathroom is clean and well kept. At this time, they are given out complimentary calendar for shoppers with purchased. Very nice big calendar.

My friend lives in Garden Grove and she told me that actually A.R. Supermarket is her favorite for getting Korean food and products. That’s interesting because I was often shopping Korean food in H Mart nearby but never noticed this A.R. Supermarket so I went to check it out. It offers a wide variety of products at prices significantly lower than the H Mart’s!! Vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms are very fresh, with organic brands too. There’s also a wide selection of side dishes, meat, seafood, frozen food, sauces, snacks, instant noodles, shampoos and etc. Those items are often on sale. For example, Harim’s frozen ginseng chicken soup was $7.7 (dated 5/2024) on sale while it was priced at $9.9 on Weee even after a discount. The store layout is okay, but the lighting isn’t as bright as H Mart’s, so it might seem not so modern, however, I don’t mind as long as it provides good products with great price. There are a few shops aside in supermarket including shoes shop, Korean cosmetic chain store, women clothing stores and hair accessory shop. Overall, it’s a great place to shop at one stop and I definitely recommend it. 📍A.R. Supermarket (Korea Plaza) 9580 Garden Grove Blvd #3
